Getting ready to do some major UberPOS work. The road to our alpha release.

There's been a fair amount of interest in UberPOS which is very motivating.

I'm going to resume some heavy development of UberPOS today and I've started putting together a list of things to do. Mostly these are the 'to dos' we need done before we can make the switch to UberPOS at Left-click. These are also the main things holding back an alpha release.

  • Credit Card swiper support - We've bought a swiper and found that it simply outputs the credit card information as plain text. The format is pretty simple so I'm going to have the code accept the credit card information in a text box (like how the scanner works now) and then have the PHP parse that and let Ubercart handle the rest.
  • Bar code on receipt - This one's just cool. When scanned, UberPOS will load up the order.
  • Refund - I'm thinking I'll want to make this work with previously completed orders. That way you'll be able to scan in a receipt's bar code, select an item on the order screen and enter the refund command.
  • Multiple products - Need a way to add multiples of the same product to an order.
  • Tax exempt - Basically we need a way to make an entire order tax exempt. It would also be nice to have a way to make a single item tax exempt, as IS4C does this. This 'to do' is a little tricky and may involve some work with conditional actions.
  • No Sale - This command should just kick the cash drawer.

A left-click.us project.
